As the last of 2009 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on the things I experienced over the last ten years of my life. Some good, some not so good, and the lessons I took from each occurrence. My 34 year marriage to my high school sweetheart came to an end, I saw the births of several new grandchildren, and the deaths of my sister and a cousin to whom I was very close, as well as the near death accident of a family member of mine; these were all pivotal times in my life. The best part of this past decade (apart from my kids and grandchildren) I've been blessed with, is two years after my divorce, I met a man that has touched my life in ways I never could have imagined. It truly was Thanksgiving Day (literally and figuratively) the day we met. We have a mutual respect for each other, we spend our time together bonded in laughter and richly articulated conversations, and have much to celebrate after recently joining our hands and hearts in holy matrimony. The vows we spoke and promised to each other as we stood on the shores of the beautiful Lake Tahoe three weeks ago, will be honored by us both for the rest of our lives! We have grown as individuals, as well as a couple. I never thought love for me was in the cards ever again, but Scooter has shown me differently. We are amazingly happy!!!
So, to say that I have been busy would be an understatement, hence, part of the reason for no blog posts this past month. However, I did manage to get some knitting and crocheting time in though. I completed several charity projects which are on my projects page in Ravelry, as well as things for myself and family and friends. The most recent, which I'm working on tonight, is a sweater for one of my granddaughters. I will post a picture when it's completed, and tell you my plans for future endeavors.
I'm ringing in the New Year with Scooter next to me as we each make our toast to each other with some champagne. Since Christmas Eve, I've been down with an upper respiratory infection, but am feeling better a little more each day. I'm just glad we celebrated the holidays with our family and friends at the beginning of last week, so we didn't have to miss all the festivities, for the most part.
Our goals for the New Year are pretty much the same as everyone else's I'm guessing. To be more fit, i.e., healthier, to continue being financially solvent and responsible, and to nourish the relationships we have with those in our lives. I am also planning to do more in the way of charity and we have also talked about committing more random acts of kindness. We have many ideas for remodeling projects to our home and are already planning our next vacation to take in the spring. We plan to spend as much time as possible with our children, grandchildren, and our dear friends, and appreciate every moment of it!
Scooter and I wish nothing but the best for all of you in the coming year. Take care of yourselves and those you love and have a Happy New Year! Cheers!!!!
Hoping your 2010 is wonderful and prosperous! Hope you feel better soon!:) I was sick over the whole holidays so didn't see any family :( Looking forward to a better year! Take care!
