Vintage kind of weekend

For the past week or so, I have been obsessed with knitting up some new dishcloths for my kitchen. While my mom probably has about 40... okay, that's an exaggeration, but I have kept her well supplied, while MY kitchen linen supply has been greatly neglected. I was down to just 3, so that meant I was washing them constantly. Thanks to Ravelry, I have discovered the best pattern ever, and you can find it here. I put my gold one in use over the weekend, and I have to say, I LOVE this pattern!!! So much so, that I knit another one....and I can see at least a couple more in my future. This is such a quick and easy to memorize waffle stitch pattern, and does a very effective job in the kitchen. I learned that Scooter was a little dissappointed that I gave the red one to my friend, so I think maybe I'll knit up another one for him today.

It feels so good to be back in the swing of things. The cough I had is down to a bare minimum, more like almost non existent, and Scooter is feeling much better too. I actually felt like going out with a friend on Friday and doing some shopping. Wow, did we spend way too much! Oh well, you can't put a price on spending time with someone you care a great deal about, can you? We had such fun..we both needed new makeup and while I've only seen ads for Benefits, I've never tried it. What awesome service too! The young women working the counter treated us to complete makeovers and explained each product as they were applying it. They are natural products and NO testing is done on animals! The packaging as well as the shade names are very vintage and just adorable....for example, the name of the blush I ended up with is called Sugar Bomb, my foundation is Paper Dolls.... a combination makeup and powder all in one, which I love! My lips are LaLa Land. What cute names, huh? We had the best time, so I guess it was money well spent.

On Saturday, I decided to do some more re-decorating in the living room that had been put aside while I was recuperating. I am so pleased with what we've done so far! Scooter even got into it and helped me, something he has never done in his past, prior to meeting me. After he got out the level, the stud finder, measuring tapes...all the guy gadgets....I taught him how to eyeball hang pictures...LOL I have to admit, I do use a level though. We had so much fun putting it all together. For Christmas, I received an unexpected gift that will be handed down to future generations. A quilt my grandmother made, who knows how long ago, but looks great on our living room wall!!! I love displaying family heirlooms, so I think I'm going to get one of those glass display cases to put my dad's pocket watch in, which will look awesome either in our den or the living room. I haven't finished the living room completely, but it is finally beginning to come together and I love the 'vintage' look. It's very calming and refreshing to me.

That evening, we had friends over for a mexican dinner and Scooter even helped me make the chicken enchiladas and spanish rice we served. We're learning we work very well together in the kitchen. We had such a great time...the guys spent most of the evening after dinner in the garage at Scooter's workbench learning how to reload shells for target practice and we women stayed inside catching up, and I somehow finally got talked into reading the book Twilight.

Yesterday, we decided to stay in and relax, so while Scooter tinkered with his guns and all that goes with it (research on the internet), I knitted and got all the laundry done. It was a fantastic weekend and we did catch the last five minutes of the superbowl game. Very exciting and surprising! Whoooooo would've ever thought the Saints could pull that one off?!!?
