The party ain't over

After knitting group last night, I came home to Scooter holding a very prettily wrapped box with a card. Of course, I read the card first, and couldn't get past it for the tears. You have to know my husband to understand how this affected me, but suffice to say that I know he will read every card in the store until he finds the one that says exactly what he wants to say, even if it takes him all day and several stores. I love that about him. The other amazing thing to me is he won't let anybody else do his shopping for him, when it comes to birthdays and Christmas. A sidenote here: ex-husband used to send our daughters to do his shopping for me. While I loved their good taste, it wasn't the same. Scooter takes this to heart and takes it very personal. It means so much to me that he takes the time to go pick out his gift to me himself, and I must say, the man has exquisite taste!! It doesn't matter what it is he surprises me with, just the fact that a lot of thought and sentiment goes into his decision, is so endearing to me! Last night, for my birthday, he presented me with this beautiful gold bracelet!!! It's a little hard to tell in this picture (I took it at night), but the center 'dots' are a brushed finish, and the X's under them are a polished gold, as well as the 'bars' separating them.
When my mom called me a couple of days ago and asked if she could take me to lunch today for my birthday, I had no idea she was also giving me the choice of getting a pedicure or anything else I wanted to do. So at the restaurant during lunch, she asked me if I wanted to go get my tootsies polished, or what? I get regular pedicures, so I thought it would be more fun for me and mom to see a movie. We had such a nice time, and it was very sweet of her to do this for me! After the movie, since I was on the same side of town as one of our LYS's, I stopped in to get this yarn to make something my youngest daughter has requested. I've never worked with the Rowan Felted Tweed, but I like that it's machine washable/dryable.

Tomorrow, one of my longtime girlfriends is cooking lunch for me. I haven't ever been to her new house, so this is going to be a real treat! We don't get together as often as we used to when our kids were small, so I'm really looking forward to this.
Scooter told me not to make any plans for this weekend, so I'm guessing he has something planned, but won't tell me what it is.
On Tuesday, I'm meeting another girlfriend for lunch so long as the weather stays decent. She lives over towards Bodega Bay, so it's quite a drive in good weather, but if you toss in some rain, it can get ugly sometimes.
I love extended birthdays!!! It's been a very busy week so far, but well worth getting together with girlfriends.... some new, some old, I treasure each and every one of them!!!! For the ones that live too far away, their messages to me on Facebook, emails, and their phone calls were as equally important to me. I love you all!!!
