Warmth and Welcome

The house across the street from us that has been on the market for about 2 1/2 months, finally sold and when I wasn't looking yesterday, the new owner moved in. I had met her about a month ago, when she was at the house with the inspectors, and she seemed very nice. A little nervous at first, maybe, but that can be expected when you're in a new place. She must have been very anxious and excited to get into her new home, which I can understand. With it being Christmas, and not knowing too much about her other than she loves cats, I decided to do a little baking today and make her up a gift basket as well. She might not celebrate Christmas, who knows, but in any case, she could consider it a "welcome to the neighborhood" token.

We are so lucky that we live near a lot of huge orchards that Scooter has to drive past quite often. Some of them have set up fruit, vegetable, and nut stands alongside the highway, so knowing how much I love oranges, he stopped on his way home last night and surprised me with this big bag of them. I'm planning on sharing some of those with our newest resident also.

Last night, I finished the second legwarmer of the pair I was making for granddaughter #4. She doesn't know it, and while they aren't a Christmas present, I will be surprising her with them sometime today. I love this pattern...it is so easy and so cute, and I love the way the lace spirals are worked opposite of each leg. It is a free pattern you can either download from Ravelry, or you can get it here. Thank you Kristen, for such a nice pattern!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!
