It's not like I don't have anything to knit. I mean, I have six projects on the needles that I don't seem to find the time to work on as it is. And yet, I find myself barely able to keep from casting on for yet one more project. I do have a very logical reason though, or at least, that's what I keep telling myself. Here's the deal.....I have three weeks, that I'm sure will just fly by, to finish my Oregon vest. It's the deadline I've given myself, and besides, Scooter said if I finish it, he would be more than happy to buy me another Starmore kit, or the materials to make another one of her designs of my choice. I'd be crazy to not take him up on that one! They are far from inexpensive, but oh so worth it! I divided for one armhole last night, and today, I hope to add my steek stitches, divide for the back, add more steek stitches for the other armhole, and work as much as I can on it. I have been on the go so much the past couple of weeks, and there have been several times I've been caught where I needed some sort of take along project. I went for a pedicure the other day, and I took my Coin Lace scarf with me to work on. Next to impossible, since it's lace, plus all the other distractions. I'm wanting to cast on for a pair of plain vanilla socks, and even went so far as to take my yarn and dpns with me to knit night last night. I just couldn't do it...not with Oregon sitting right there next to me. So, I have told myself I need to step up my game. I'm not doing nearly enough knitting during the day. I need to reorganize, especially since I have a huge project coming up in the next couple of weeks. The patterns my granddaughter and I ordered for her Civil War era dress have arrived. We will go shopping very soon for the fabric, and where I was a little nervous about it at first, that has been replaced with excitement!
Did I tell you about the decision Scooter and I have made to replace the floor in our sunroom? We have decided we want at least 18 inch square tiles and are now researching the material. We are considering porcelain for its durability, ease of cleaning, and the beauty of it. I will be very happy to get that done so I can outfit the room in some lovely fabrics and wicker furniture! Another thing we are back to researching, is a hot tub. We still go back and forth with that one though. I would prefer a small swim spa, while Scooter wants something a little more compact, like a 4-5 person spa. Either way, we just want to create our very own backyard oasis. I've already been mentally planning my garden and I'm pretty sure this year, I want raised beds. I'm sick to death of the hardpan in our area. It's just weird, because I remember as a kid, the area we live in now, used to be turkey farms and agriculture. So you would think, we would have premium soil. I guess when the developers moved in and began building, all kinds of crap ended up in our lots, so you never know what you're going to hit when you start digging down. Last year, we bought a rototiller and that helped tons, but it would be nice to just have raised beds all contained to one area of the yard. I won't complain though...I'm just glad we will have our own homegrown veggies again!
Your vest is looking great. I know you will like the button front better than the v-neck I did with Roscalie. I have worn it but it's not perfect! The shoulders flair too and I don;t much like that. Steeks are not going to be a favorite thing for me!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diana! After all this work, I sure hope I like it! :=) I'm not sure about steeks yet...Toni is going to help me with that...thank goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteYour stronger than I am! It looks wonderful! We have a spa and LOVE IT! We are in it a few times a week and the smaller ones don't take that much energy either.
ReplyDeleteVest looks awesome and I hope whatever y'all get, it can be something that you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have never been brave enough to try steeks. I will have my heart in my mouth for you as you steek that lovely work. Can't wait to see the finished result and then I can relax.
