Daughters and dreams

Talking with my oldest daughter on the phone yesterday, I told her I just couldn't contain my excitement any longer about her newest chapter in life. She gave me permission to spill the beans, as much and as loud as I want to. For the past ten years of her life, it's been her goal to have her own yarn store. She isn't new to the yarn retail business by any means, and with the help of her significant other who has been an entrepreneur all of his adult life, they have made her dream come true. Aimee's Yarn Cafe will be holding it's grand opening on June 18th,  in Paradise, California! It's their goal to carry the newest yarns available, and to offer different and more exciting choices than what the only other yarn store in that town carries. It will be a completely different atmosphere, offering a fresh and comfortable gathering spot for knitters, crocheters, and spinners. My daughter has a knack for decorating, and has furnished one whole room, complete with a large stone fireplace, chandeliers, and lots of bright lighting. She will also be offering refreshments, if you care to prepare yourself a cup of coffee or tea from the cutest vintage serving cart. In the future, once everything has been brought up to speed with the city's health department, and the kitchen has been remodeled, they will be able to prepare any coffee drink you like, as well as sodas, snacks, etc. Oh, and there is a lovely back porch and yard that Mike has done a beautiful makeover on. Flowers, vegetables, and a lovely arch lead the way to the relaxing backyard.

My two oldest granddaughters are very excited to have jobs this summer, and Aimee and Mike have even set my little six year old grandson up with a business of his own. It's awesome that they are teaching him to be a little businessman too. He now owns about five or six candy dispenser machines and is learning how to service them himself and to handle money. It's the cutest thing to watch him get so excited! Also, part of the proceeds are donated to a local charity in the county called Sunshine's Kids.

One of their first events to host at their new store will be held on Saturday, June 11th. It's World Wide Knit in Public Day, and it promises to be a very fun day!! I'm so excited!!!! There will be lots of activities, free t-shirts, lunch/snacks, drinks, and I believe a couple of games too. If you are in Butte County, or any of the surrounding areas, please join us with your yarn, needles or hooks, spinning wheel/spindles, a blanket or chair, and spend the day with others that share the same love you do for the fiber arts! The store is very easy to find at Clark and Pearson Rd., across the street from the Black Bear Diner.

I have offered to teach crochet classes in the future, and Aimee will be teaching knitting classes. At some point, she plans to also offer spinning classes. I can hardly wait for the doors to open. Congratulations to Aimee and Mike on what I know is going to be a successful and very exciting venture!!!
