Kudzu isn't just a weed

This past June 22nd, the knitting group I belong to decided to do a KAL, or rather, pick a project that we would all knit together. One of our knitters offered up a pattern she thought was very pretty, and do-able for every skill level within our group. She was right...Kudzu is a very pretty, and fairly simple lace design. I'm more than halfway through the pattern, but as I'm nearing 600+ stitches on my needles, it's taking longer and longer to get through a row. While it's definitely going to be a fun, and pretty piece to wear for the season, I probably won't knit this pattern again. I've discovered I don't like having that many stitches on my needles at one time. Who knows though...that is always subject to change.

It seems like it's already transitioning from summer into fall here in northern California. Maybe it's because school starts back up next week for my grandchildren, and because we have had very few 100 degree days that is typical for our area. In any case, I'm trying to squeeze in as many activities as possible with my grandkids before they do hit the books again. I spent yesterday with five of them, and took three of the older ones to the aquatic park where we live. It was the first time I've ever been, and I LOVE the zero entry beach pool. We had so much fun, I almost considered spoiling them with another day of it today!! If I do, I'll try to get pics this time...

I'm not sure if I already posted that the Ishbel I was knitting in black has been completed. My friend and I had lunch on Wednesday and I gave it to her then. It's going to be a birthday gift for her daughter, and I was so pleased with her reaction when she saw it. She said her daughter is going to love it so much!! She now wants me to come teach her sister-in-law how to knit, so I'm hoping to do that one day next week. Funny, I never really considered myself a teacher, but if asked, I'm more than happy to do my best at it.  My flooring lady came to our knitting group this past Wednesday, and even though I was skeptical with her being left handed and me right, she caught on in less than ten minutes!!! It was amazing to watch her...very impressive! So, not only is my Kudzu growing (like a weed), so is the knitting community, and more importantly, my grandkids who are growing into such awesome young people...and I'm loving the time we get to spend with each other!!
