Little 10 pound miniature Dachshunds shouldn't get sick. Not ever. Maggie was acting out of character today when I got home from work, but not to the point of where I should've been overly concerned. She did the same thing she always does when either Chris or I get home from wherever. She pranced around on her little hind legs, which means I need to pick her up and cuddle for a
Chris wasn't home, so I knew I would have to get her to the vet by myself. Poor little thing lost her lunch as soon as we got out of the car at the clinic, and continued to do the same once inside. Of course, after a battery of questions from the vet, and a pretty thorough examination, no conclusion had been made as to what was wrong with her. So, it came down to either I could take her home and we could sit up all night with her, or I could leave her there where she could be cared for, x-rays of her tummy would be done, and if nothing could be determined in those, blood work. I can't stand the thought of her being sick, or any animal for that matter. It's breaking my heart that I have to be away from her tonight. I love my pet. She's a member of our family. I make sure she gets all of her vaccinations, gets her teeth brushed, nails clipped, flea repellent given as prescribed, bathed regularly, and she gets all of our love! Besides my husband, she's my best friend and deserves to be treated as such!! I miss her so much!
Oh no - I hope she is ok. I have 2 cats and I adore them. It's awful when your pets get sick. She sounds like a gorgeous dog.

Thank you, Martine. They're like our kids, aren't they? Maggie turned 2 this past April, and still acts like a little puppy. She's such a sweetheart!
