Nothing wrong with a little variety

Even though he told me there's no rush, it's my brother, so of course I want him to have the scarf he has requested I "make" for him, before it starts getting cold where he lives! Right away, I began searching out patterns for men that would look good striped. I've narrowed it down and decided I wanted to knit it out of a nice yarn with drape, and some squish factor to it, perhaps in a dk weight with the intention of it looking a little 'dressier'. I'm so excited about getting the yarn ordered for it this morning, while enjoying my coffee. Jimmy Beans Wool had exactly what I was looking for, and now I just hope the colors are as they were on my monitor. The best part? JBW has a very nice 'rewards' system, and I had $12. and some change that I could apply to my order, plus they are running a promotion for free shipping right now. An even bigger plus....because I live just a state away from them (2 hours by car), I should have it in the next couple of days!

My second sock became more of a reality this morning when I was able to find the right place in my yarn to cast on, so my stripes would line up. Ordinarily, this wouldn't bother me, but for some reason, with this particular sock, I knew it was going to nag at me until I could fine the right sequence in the yarn. I did it with a fresh pair of eyes this morning, and my socks are going to be perfectly aligned! I now have some more on-the-go knitting to carry with me...huzzah!! I have been lost the past few days with no backup projects in the car.

Yesterday evening, I sat down to relax with some knitting during one of my favorite tv shows, The Voice. I cast on the second mitt I've mentioned in previous posts and completed the first lace repeat. Oh wait, first I added the thumb on the first mitt, then started the second one. I love this pattern so much, and I suspect my sister is probably going to ask for another pair in a different color. She's another one that appreciates my knitting for her. I actually get lovely handwritten thank you cards in the mail from her and her husband when I've knit something for them!!! So sweet!

Socks for my brother in law for his birthday in August

The lovely note of thanks from him!
He writes pretty small...it says:
Hi Deb, yes, I am kind of late about telling you how much I enjoy the socks you made for me. I really like the mix of color, the earthy fall color look about them, and the soft feel on my feet. Thanks so much. Paul

I know, like I said, really sweet, right?!

My sister's new birthday mitts for next month.

Everything about today says "Fall", so I will leave you with the wish for wonderful smells in the air, the crunch of leaves under your feet, and cooler temperatures. We are hopefully going to get some showers late tonight and possibly early tomorrow, and to me, that just says "it's casserole time!" And, I've got several projects on the needles for variety...life is good!!!
