Having said that...it has been a while since I've knitted an adult scarf. I have to say I'm so happy to be at the end of this one. One more red stripe and it's off to the bath and a block, then into the mail it goes! He is anxious for it...he has asked me more than once when it's coming. I have been a very monogamous knitter with this project, but it sure seems to have taken longer than I had planned. I guess I forgot how long scarves need to be. Not only will he be happy when I tell him it has been mailed, I will also be happy to have it off my needles! I'm ready to be over it...
Life in my world has been super busy!! I have four grandchildren that I am very involved with and trying to keep up with them is pretty exhausting some days. Only one of them is a girl, who is 13, and is a cheerleader at her middle school, so she is kept very active and busy. I'm so fortunate that she loves doing crafts with me, and knits and crochets too! I've been teaching her to spin and sew lately, and would love to find her a used wheel for Christmas to practice on. That remains to be seen for now though.
Her 11 year old brother is very active in our local Little League, and this past season, ended up an All-Star. He loves playing ball and is looking forward to starting the season again! We love attending his games, which will of course, start back up in the spring.
The two younger ones are five and six, and are still all over the place, but they did play soccer this season. That is the cutest thing I've ever seen!!
Before the kids arrive in the mornings, I take a few minutes as I think I've said before, to sit and spin while having my coffee. I changed my granddaughter's bobbin out and back to mine with the alpaca on it, since she's busy sewing some little teddy bears for her toddler cousins for Christmas. I want to get this alpaca spun up and off my wheel! I'm ready for something a little more colorful, but I am also looking forward to knitting some sort of a wrap or cowl with this alpaca. I don't happen to have anything in brown to wear with some of my outfits, so this would be nice to have.
A little bit more progress on the second bobbin of this....
I think I mentioned in my last post that I would be re-decorating, or at least tossing in some Christmas type things with my Fall decor. So over the weekend, I visited a little boutique in the next town over from us, and once I went through their doors, it was all she wrote, as the saying goes. I have been decorating shabby chic now for about 12 years and this little store catered to my every whim. They are only open once a month and only on certain days. I went all three days they were open this time, and each day, I came home with another arm load! I just couldn't believe their prices and everything was staged so nicely. One of the pieces I scored was a brass chandy (behind the shutters), that I will be painting with some chalk paint to shabby it up. I played with the idea of leaving it in its original vintage brass dress, but I really want it painted to go with everything else. I found a couple of mirrors, a nightstand, some old lace wrapped bottles, a jewelry chest, some burlap roses, some vintage style scarves (for me!)...this is what I could remember right off the top of my head. As I get it all put together, I'll share pics with you. Here's one of one of my piles in the garage....And one in the house...
I can't wait to put on some hot tea and get started!!! We are having a cold for us kind of day, so maybe once the kids are in from school, I'll build us a nice fire to sit and read or do homework by. Rain is forecasted for tomorrow and again on Saturday...I love this time of year!!
I know the rest of our nation is having a real cold snap, complete with rain, snow and tornadoes, so I hope you are bundled up and stay safe!!!
it's always the last three or four inches of a scarf when i keep thinking to myself how "scarf" rhymes with "barf" :)
ReplyDeleteyour scarf is lovely though, no barf at all!
