New inspiration

One of the things I have never done is make resolutions. I don't know, to me, it just has always sounded like you did things wrong in years past, and now you want to correct them. Instead, I like to think I just make new rules as I go along, a sort of new ideas kind of thing. So I went shopping over the weekend (a monumental thing for me as I'm not much of a shopper) in hopes of finding some clothes that fit. Somehow, I managed to talk myself out of several new outfits by telling myself that in a couple of more months, I'm probably going to be down several more pounds and then those new items won't fit again. Money wasted. I'm pretty frugal that way (you're welcome Scooter), but that's not to say that once I reach my goal weight, watch out!!! No, I won't be buying everything on the racks, as I've always been pretty sensible about that, but I am planning for a whole new wardrobe makeover. Anyway, while out shopping (mostly for a wedding present for this next weekend), a blog I found a couple of years ago popped into my head. It's about a young woman who found herself laid off from her job in L.A. and allowed herself one dollar a day to find a new piece of clothing at a thrift/Goodwill store, took it home and transformed it into the cutest articles of couture. You can read/follow her at www.newdressaday.com, and she actually has a book out! Another reason to set my sewing machine up soon!! In case you're wondering, I came home and managed to put together a very nice outfit from clothes in the back of my closet I had forgotten about because they no longer fit, to wear to the wedding. Maybe I'll get some pictures up soon!

Once I had the wardrobe situation planned out for both Scooter and I, I spent the rest of the weekend knitting...and knitting some more. I have two more repeats of the third clue on my Downton Abbey mystery shawl left to do which won't take much time at all. I'm hoping clue number four brings in a bit of lace. While I love garter stitch, I'm ready to see this shawl become a little more challenging.

The Through the Loops mystery sock kal from Kirsten Kapur is coming along nicely. I have the first clue completed for both socks, and am looking forward to the next one this coming Wednesday.

I had every intention of showing you progress pics, but blogger, yet again, isn't wanting to cooperate with the downloads, so I will have to try again later.

Have a great week everyone!!!

  1. I cannot wait to see your Downton Abbey Shawl! I am a late bloomer and just started watching the first series. I love it! I am going into the 4th episode on Prime Amazon.
