The next project around the corner

One of the interests that I have a fondness for is quilts, and as I've spoken about in previous posts, it has been reignited. I had forgotten how much I love fabric! I just plain love all facets of needle arts, and I've pretty much tried all of them, but I do have certain ones that are my favorites. If you have been reading my blog for quite some time now, you already know that one of those is knitting, and my other one is sewing which runs a close second with cross stitch. Yesterday, I showed you and told you about the fabrics I chose for a quilt I'll be starting this week, and how one of those pieces just wasn't speaking to me. So, yesterday afternoon, I went to the fabric store and with a fresh pair of eyes, I found exactly what I was looking for. I'm so happy with my choices now! Like I said, I was going for more of a cottage-y feel, and one of those pieces was just too dark. I needed a total of four dark pieces, and I was able to find something that said "take me home" to replace it. I'm so excited to get my sewing machine out again...it's been way too long!!!

For me, one of the most exciting things about sewing again will be making my own clothes and then to knit matching cardigans/sweaters, etc. I also plan to start sewing for my granddaughters too, something I haven't done for them since they were wee ones. The prospect of it all just makes my heart sing!!!

I have completed clue #5 on my Downton Abbey mystery shawl and wow, do I ever love the design! I will get started on clue #6 today, as well as the next clue on my mystery socks.

On another social media website yesterday, I was asked what a typical breakfast looks like for me. I thought I would share it here as well, since it's one of mine and Scooter's favorites. So, I know it doesn't look all that appetizing, but I actually made these yesterday, so the pepper is a bit shriveled after being in the refrigerator overnight. Just trust me though...it tastes so yummy!!! I wash and core the bell peppers, and then put them in a 400 degree oven for approximately 20 minutes. I steam some fresh spinach (higher than a banana in potassium), and after roasting the pepper(s), I fill them with the spinach and then crack an egg over the top. They go back in the oven for about another 15-20 minutes, but watch carefully that you don't burn the pepper. I like to add a couple of Cuties (mandarins) and I now have a very filling and tasty breakfast!

Whoops...I almost forgot there has been spinning since yesterday! I've spun about an ounce of my 'Cabbage Rose' and I'm enjoying it so much. You probably can't see it in the picture, but it has the most beautiful sparkle running through it! It is so wonderful to be back spinning again. I probably sat at my wheel yesterday for a total of about an hour! Stitches West 2015 is only two weeks away, and I'm so very excited!!!! I can't hardly wait to look at the lovely fibers and bring some home with me. I love having a variety of crafts to do and to keep them all in rotation!!!!
