Changes for the season

The past couple of weeks have been a tornado of busy for me. In addition to trying to whip out as many scarves as I can for one of my favorite charities, as well as some knitting because it's what I do, I've been helping out a family member that's been feeling a bit under the weather, but feeling stronger and better each day. Much to be thankful for!
I started a scarf last Thursday at an appointment, and working on it in the evenings, I finished it late Saturday night. It's the Branching Leaves Scarf pattern, but there aren't really any written instructions. It's worked from a chart, so I'm not sure you would consider it a beginner project. However, for the more experienced crocheter, it's what I call mindless tv crocheting. It works up pretty fast and the results are stunning, so my thanks to Olenka for presenting the chart to us. I will definitely make this one again!

Scooter and I have been incredibly busy with our house, but very, very happy with the results. We hope to have things completely back in order before the holidays, but since that starts this Thursday, I'm not sure we will be able to accomplish it all. We have managed to get the most important rooms back in order, and are loving our new family room!!! I love to decorate my home as much as I love to knit, so scouting out some amazing little shops in the foothills of northern California, has been a favorite pasttime of late. Scooter gave me a choice for my birthday (Nov. 10th)...he would either go shopping and get me something special, or I could have carte blanche and shop in some of the stores I had discovered. I chose the carte blanche and found the most awesomely pretty vintage sofa for our living room, as well as an oriental rug in the perfect colors to match the decor I'm going with! I put a picture of it in my last post I believe. I can hardly wait to get started on some stained glass pieces and have a couple of counted cross stitch designs in mind as well for the walls. I have some vintage needlework pieces found in some antique stores a few years back that I may incorporate into the decor also. Scooter said he is amazed at the transformation and I definitely missed my calling. He's just very sweet that way, but I do love it very much!

I'm still plugging away on his socks. He's even more anxious for them now, as I let him try the completed one on the other day. He loves them...whew!~ I'm never really sure when I knit something for someone else, so it's reassuring when you can tell their response is genuine.

I hope everyone has been well and you have much to be thankful for. Have a great week!!

  2. Hey, rita! Yep, I love the knitted version of this one too, but since I crochet at lightening speed, I chose this chart so I could get the scarf sent off to southern California.
I'll send you a message on Ravelry to tell you about our addition to our house. :=)
