Tonight at 6pm (PST) is the beginning of Ravelympics 2010. I am so excited and keep thinking, how am I going to cast on for my February Lady Sweater, when I love watching the opening ceremonies for the Olympics? Oh, and the team I am on (GOOO Team Sasquatch!) is going to have a chat session too. I can already see this is going to be big doings and take some major focusing in our home tonight! Scooter isn't much for Olympics watching, unless it's the skiing competition. He's a skier, so he really likes watching the sport. I'm not sure what the lineup for tonight is...note to self: check the schedule today....but if it's not skiing, then Scooter will more than likely head out to his workbench to do some reloading, and I'm good with that!
I have been so busy lately that I haven't even had a chance to take notice of my daffodils in the pic above, that have bloomed. While all the rain we've had has wreaked havoc on my flowerbeds, they are still such a joy to look at. This year, I have to remember to transplant some of them. They were already in the ground when we moved in and I've never really liked where they are. I love bulbs, and I'm considering taking out the roses in my front garden, and naturalizing it with loads of bulbs that will bloom at different times so there is always something pretty to look at. That will take some scrutinization and big planning though. We have already decided to remove the roses that line our back fence so we can plant some of our vegetables in that bed. You aren't supposed to plant tomatoes in the same place year after year, so this is the logical place for our summer vegetable garden. After the tomatoes are finished for the summer, I will replace those maybe with mums for the fall. We will see. In any case, the sun is shining today, and spring is around the corner!!!!
I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend. For most it's a three day weekend here in the states as we celebrate President's Day, or Lincoln's birthday and Washington's birthdays combined. Whatever you choose to do, stay safe, healthy, and happy!
I cant wait to see your sweater :-)
ReplyDeleteOH...BTW...the yellow links on your blog blend in so much with the background that they are not visable...just FYI :-)
Thanks! Yeah, I know...was just waiting till Sunday to change the background. You'll just have to deal with it for now...LOL..just kidding! I'll fix it.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm doing a shawl but I have the Feb Lady sweater lined up just in case I actually finish early!!!! Beautiful flowers!! Can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteGet your knitting on!! woo.. I love Daffodils. My very favorite poem of all time is Wordsworth's I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in Ravelympics.... I got about 25 rounds of a sleeve done last night. I have to waste precious knitting time to go get some size 4 dpns as I seems to have lost one.. sigh...
Great blog post. Happy Holiday Weekend to you... and you know 2010 started out pretty sh>>>ty for me.. so I am giving this year a new shot by celebrating Chinese/Vietnamese new year on Sunday. LOL
You go girl. Love the flowers. It reminded me I need to get some planted.
ReplyDeleteThanks Toni and Linda!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I've been knitting most evenings, mostly socks, a couple of scarves. Life is too easy while I'm living with my sister.
ReplyDeleteRita, did you sell your house?!?!?! I must've missed something!
ReplyDeleteNo such luck. The weather has been so nasty that I'm staying on this side of the mountain. We have a long driveway up a hill and it's had ice and snow since Dec. 18.
ReplyDeleteAnd since Zippy died, I don't have a barker to scare off intruders....
I never really got the chance to cast on anything specifically for the Ravelympics. Then again, I've never been very much an Olympics watcher. I mean, I'll watch the figure skating sometimes, but other than that, I just don't get the appeal. Maybe it's because I'm not a HUGE sport fan?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, those daffodils are beautiful and must have been a welcome sign of spring to come. We're getting ready to set up some flowers and veggies here ourselves...though to be honest, this is my first time being able to plant a garden and I'm not sure when a good time to put things in the ground is. Right now there's still a cold snap going on so....I'm assuming it'll be after that.
Love the look of your blog! <3
Hey Cadence! Good to see you!! Yes, you want to wait until all danger of frost has passed before you put any flowers and veggies into the ground. My daffodils actually came up a little early, but that's ok by me, since we're still having rain and wind here!
