Oh hello!..I'm Maggie

My new mom hasn't been a dog owner for many years, and my dad has never been one. I think my mom forgot what extra work a tiny newborn can be. In time, they will see that a new addition to their family is going to be worth it though. I must say, I am so freakin' adorable!!! I am a bit needy, but what do you expect, having gone right from my six other littermates and parents to this new home? Like any newborn, I want expect to be held all the time. Part of that might be my breed though too. My dad is a mini Dachshund, and mom is half Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua. I think I favor my dad's side more though, which my mom loves! I know my new mom has had a mini Dachshund before, so she knows they do tend to want to be close to their owner, which is fine with her, because she wanted a little lap dog anyway. Yesterday, I was a little nervous, so I just wanted to nuzzle and cuddle up around my mom's collarbones so I could bury my cold little nose in her neckline. Mom didn't mind cuz she's just real nurturing that way. Today, I am a little more at ease with my new surroundings and was content to snuggle in a blanket next to mom with my little head on her leg. Just too cute! I was fed this morning, went out to the yard to go potty, and am now taking a little siesta in my crate. I yelped and cried nonstop for 3 minutes.... until I finally got tired of hearing it myself and mom said, "hey, Maggie, chill". Smart puppy I is...I stopped, curled up in my blankie, and fell asleep. Mom says I will have to get used to it because this is where I'm going to sleep and travel. I am just nine weeks old and I don't think I even weigh a whole pound yet. We are going to be great friends, I can tell already! Now, a note from my mom....

We weren't quite sure how Snicks, the yard tiger, would accept her, but so far, he is hilarious! He's almost afraid of her..well, she is a little unpredictable as puppies can be, with their bouncing around and sudden moves. If she gets too close to him, he arches his back, his tail gets rather fluffy, and he starts doing that sideways walk that cats do. Lol Scooter says that's his way of showing her who's in charge here. It looks like they're going to at least tolerate one another, so long as she keeps her snout out of his food. When I take her outside to potty, he follows us and it's like he's making sure she is going to be okay. As any good parents would do, we're making sure he is getting his fair amount of attention too.

I don't really have any knitting or crocheting news for y'all today, but I most likely will have tomorrow. My sweet Maggie took up a lot of my time yesterday...well, we did what any smart girls would do...we went shopping for all the essentials! I do plan to get some knitting done today, so hopefully Maggie will feel more settled in, and adjust to the idea that her new mom knits! Besides, she is going to need a new sweater!
