It's all my friend, Toni's, fault. Little by little she sucked me into the world of fair isle knitting. I'm hopelessly hooked and my fingers constantly itch till I can sit back down if only for a few minutes, to work on my Oregon vest. The way these colors have been put together is nothing short of sheer genius!! I love the Autumn colorway...the colors are so vibrant! Last night at knit night, we checked my gauge, and I'm spot on!!!! I took a huge leap of faith and didn't do a swatch. When I was ready to begin knitting last week, it was at knit night and without realizing that Alice Starmore has you do your swatch in stranded knitting, I didn't have the right colors with me. However, I did have the right ones to begin my corrugated ribbing. Trust me, the naysayers were there and warning me not to start without first doing the proper swatching. It's rare though that I don't get gauge on any project, unless of course, I'm not using the yarn called for. I was already about 2 inches into the body of my vest, when I announced last night that I had not yet gauged my work. Oh, the gasps could've been heard five miles down the road! lol I had one of our group's expert knitters check it for me, and then you could've heard my sigh of relief a few miles away. There is always that chance that your gauge can be off, and given the amount of money I spent for this vest, plus the time I have put into it thus far, I will admit, it was a huge chance I took.
I am enjoying every bit of this project and am so excited to finally see the leaves in the design beginning to emerge. I can hardly wait to wear this come fall....so, I thought I would share my progress up to this point.
Hope y'all have a wonderful day!!
