AWOL

This morning, I wanted to cast on for the baby sweater I spoke of yesterday, so I began gathering my supplies, i.e., needles and yarn. I knew right where my yarn for it was since I just had it out yesterday to show y'all. When I went to get my needles, I stopped in my tracks and thought 'wait a second, I can't remember where I had them last'. Normally, they would be in one of my two larger knitting bags. For some reason, I couldn't 'see' them in my mind in either one of them. I have a small chest of drawers in the sunroom where I keep craft supplies, and the top two drawers mostly hold my swift, ball winder, Addi Turbo needles, crochet hooks, etc. etc. I raced to that chest, and from room to room, and no Knit Picks Harmony interchangeables to be found. For the life of me, I can't remember when I even had them last. I hate to just order another set, because that's a sure fire way of getting the old set to show up. I have other family members who knit too, so I guess I could always gift a set if that happens. I thought I was a pretty organized person, so this is really bothering me to think my needles have escaped. When I want to start a new project, I want to do it RIGHT now...especially if I have a deadline to meet. Looks like the baby layette will be knit with some Addi Turbos....not a bad thing, just not what I want to knit with. I LOVE my Harmony's!!!

Remember this project? Yeah, I know, probably not. It didn't make that big of an impact on me either. In fact, it bored me to tears. I noticed everytime I sat down to work on it, I fell asleep! So last night, I realized that if I was that bored with it, was it really going to be that fun wearing it? Ummm.....NO! I mean, really, did I want to feel like I had half an afghan wrapped around my neck? It's just a plain half granny square, with a picot edging around it. I felt like I was wasting some very nice yarn that just did not want to be a granny square. I have liberated myself and that yarn and will now find a pattern worthy of it...something a little more challenging with flair and interest to it. It's a silky wool and deserves more than just a simple granny square. Don't get me wrong...I believe granny squares do have their place. In fact, they make lovely afghans, potholders, and dishcloths!!! They just don't do much for me as articles of clothing, or accessories right now...but, that's just me. Who knows? maybe at some point in the future, I will try it again with a different yarn/thread and once the picot edging is on it, it will make a difference. Like I said though, for now, it just isn't floating my boat.

Out of here to go find some needles and cast on...it will be a great day after all!!!
