There is nothing so yummy as a steaming hot bowl of homemade chili and corn bread on a rainy fall day. Well, maybe, but it's sure hard to beat. Scooter and I had one of the most relaxing weekends we've had in a long time, and the cooler weather made it so much more cozier! He took the day off on Friday and went to the firing range early, which gave me the opportunity to hit the LYS, but more on that later. After a knitting buddy left yesterday, I put together my super easy, super quick, pot of chili and let that simmer on the stove for a couple of hours. You just can't have that without some homemade cornbread...one of Scooter's favorite meals!

This was Scooter after his second bowl! Now that's a great compliment, wouldn't you agree?!
While dinner was stewing on the stove, I managed to get quite a bit of knitting done and also scanned through the thousands of patterns on Ravelry to find the perfect baby layette. A close friend of mine has asked me to either knit or crochet one for her great nephew that is due to arrive in January. Since I'm a friend of her sister's too (it will be her new grandbaby), I might just do two sets of sweater, hat, booties, and mitts, depending on how fast I get the first set done. That's what I needed to get to the LYS shop on Friday for. Since I hadn't picked out a for sure pattern yet, I played it safe and bought yarn in a worsted weight as well as DK weight, in the same colorways. I might go back though and exchange for a different colorway if I decide to make a second set.

I finished clue #3 on my mystery KAL socks by Kirsten Kapur (Through the Loops), so now I have to wait until this next Friday to get the next clue. I love how when I'm knitting or crocheting, Maggie has to curl up right next to me, if not right in my lap. She was cold pretty much the whole weekend though when the temps began dropping, so I don't mind all 8 pounds of her right under my nose. She is such a little sweetie! And when Scooter joins us, she loves it even more!!

So how was your weekend? Mellow and snuggly with yummy smelling candles and good food like mine was, or hectic like mine sometimes can be?
Somehow, I managed to miss my blogoversary, so sometime in the near future, I'm going to have a contest. I haven't worked out the details yet, but as soon as I do, they will be posted here!
Have a great week and remember to pay it forward...even if it's only to share a smile! :=)
