Red and White forever!

Those are the school colors of my alma mater, San Juan High School; and our mascot is the Spartan. It has been many years since I graduated, but I have belonged to our Alumni Association since it began. Every two years, the Alumni Assoc. holds an all class reunion picnic, and I try to go every time. So far, in the last few years, I have been to all but one. This past Saturday, it was held for the first time at the high school itself, and Scooter and I joined my former classmates for an afternoon of new friendships for him, and lots of laughter and reminiscing for me. I always forget that a number of people I went to school with went to work for the railroad after high school, and it turned out that Scooter even knows some of them! Has even worked with some of them, as recent as last week!!! Phone numbers and email addresses were exchanged, and we were even invited to the reunion next weekend of the class one year ahead of me. I probably knew just as many people in that class as I did my own year. My sisters and I were pretty sociable...one of my younger sisters was class president of her class two years behind me, my youngest sister was a cheerleader for all four years of high school, as well as Miss Citrus Heights (the town we lived in) and for a while, I belonged to a Christian group that met at lunchtime on campus each week. I think it also helped that I worked for two years in the attendance office. We had such a great time at the picnic and look forward to many more of those as well as reunions!! Go Spartans!!!

Speaking of red.....I started the heel of one sock for Scooter...the ones I have been working on for a couple of weeks. I am loving it so much and can hardly wait to see his reaction to a pair of Sock Monkey Socks...lol I'm doing the red out of Risata from Knit Picks and I'm actually enjoying working with this yarn. It's soft but seems durable and has quite a bit of give to it. I also have some in a green in my stash I'll have to try out on a pair of socks for me.

What a great pattern so far for the mystery sock KAL I joined!!! I finished the cuff for one sock and learned a new way to do cables without a cable needle. Very cool! I will be doing the cuff for sock number two this week so that I will be ready for the next clue this coming Friday. I absolutely love doing these mystery KALs! It's so fun to see what you end up with, and Kirsten Kapur is an awesome designer!! These blue ones are the ones I did last year with the group. The design is a little difficult to see, but you can find them on Ravelry here. I love these socks and need to make them again, but with so many great patterns out there, I want to do a pair of each design!
