We are surprising my mom with something today, so I will reserve all reviews on how the day goes in my next post. I hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend, and for my friends in the midwest, be careful, stay safe, and warm!!!!

Men in uniform
This past Friday, I went to lunch with a girlfriend, her daughter-in-law, and her granddaughter. We were seated at a table where behind us were three active duty personnel, more than likely Air Force, given that we live about 45 minutes from an air base. When our waitress came to greet us and take our drink orders, the daughter-in-law whispered something to her. My girlfriend started talking to her when the waitress walked off, so I had to ask what was going on. It turns out that whenever my girlfriend's son and his wife go out to eat, if there are military personnel in the restaurant, they pick up their check for them. How cool is that!?!? I was so blown away by that, that when the check came, I wanted to help her and pay half. She refused, but my girlfriend and I insisted. I had never thought of doing that, but I will certainly be doing it from now on. What an awesome way to "support our troops" and show our appreciation for all that they do. When the three gentlemen learned what we had done, they came over and thanked us several times. So, whether or not you agree with what our current situation is in the middle East, it's because of our military that we enjoy the freedoms we have in this country. What a wonderful gesture to show our thanks!!!
Yesterday, I finished the legwarmers I was knitting for part of my daughter's Christmas present and I love how they turned out!! Simple design, but cute, and the pattern is quick and easy. They are a chocolate brown, even though in the pic they look like two different colors. I took the pic at night so I'm guessing it's because of the lighting. I may take another one, and I may not. They're done and that's all I care about right now. We are having our family get together next week, so today I will cast on for a pair of legwarmers for my granddaughter.

ReplyDeleteLeg warmers .... what a great idea! I have knitted knee socks on today. It's in the 20's out and my heat is cranking to keep up.
Thanks also for the nice comment on my blog about the Starmore vest. I hope you have a more enjoyable experience with the steeks than I did!
That is pretty awesome that she did that and I LOVE those leg warmers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy..I will have to tell my friend. It nearly brought tears to my eyes when her daughter-in-law did that!
ReplyDeleteDiana, you are so welcome! I love how your vest came out..it looks great!!! Luckily, I have Toni here when the time comes for my steeks, which will hopefully be very soon after Christmas.
