No more deadlines

It seems lately, every project I have started, there has been some sort of a deadline. I'm finishing ones that have the deadline, but not the ones I want to be finishing. Knitting is my passion, but I have come to the conclusion that when I have a deadline, for me, it takes the joy out of the project. This could very well explain why I have a bad case of startitis. I needed a break from my Oregon vest that had a self-imposed deadline. Things just weren't going as planned with it, and it was making my head hurt and stressing me. So, here is a pic of my Terra shawl that I worked on last night at knitting. I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this pattern! It's so relaxing and for now, it's one of those projects I can just put on auto-pilot. I'm guessing until I get to the lace portion, but even then, it's all charted and I'm looking forward to it.
My deadline for my vest is this Saturday, and even though I'm so close to having it completed, I doubt it's going to happen. I'm disappointed, but I've made peace with it. Knitting isn't supposed to be stressful, therefore, no more deadlines for me!! As for my vest, it will get finished eventually, because it's rare that I don't finish something I start.

We are having some wild weather here in northern California, and it's nice to just stay in with a warm fire crackling in the fireplace. I can hardly wait to snuggle up with Terra, which won't be too far off. It's going quick!

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!!!

  1. I agree with you, I cant knit on something that has a deadline, it takes all the fun out of it. I also dont like knitting on something where the person is expecting it because then I again feel like I am pressed to do it.
