Show me the money!

While it has been an extremely hectic week for me, I did manage to make it to my local knitting guild meeting last night. I love this group of approx. 175 women, and my pal Lew who has been a member for many years as well! Last year, our membership got up to over 200 by the end of the year, and I'm sure it will continue to grow this year like it did then. Each month, we hold a raffle where tickets are one dollar, and I usually buy five dollars worth (because our treasurer won't let me buy ten...lol). By the end of the meeting, our treasurer has the money counted and half of it goes to our lending library, and the other half goes to the winning ticket. Guess who had the winning ticket last night and went home $47. richer? Wooohoooo!!! This was my first time winning after having belonged to the guild for a year and a half now. I was thrilled and will put it towards some fiber to spin! Thank you Camellia City Stockin'ettes!!

Speaking of my local guild...we have so many awesome activities planned for this year. Our first field trip will be on the 26th of this month, and I can hardly wait. We will be going up to Lisa Souza's studio, in Placerville, CA (where I was born!). Lisa does amazing dying and says life is too short to knit or spin with inferior fiber. I like the way she thinks!! In addition to this field trip, we have a Napa Valley wine tour we call the 'Sip and Knit' coming up later in the year, that our guild is chartering a bus for. I'm so excited!! We also have a lot of charities that we contribute to with our skills/talent, so looks like in addition to spending a vast amount of time with my grandchildren, I have plenty to keep me very busy. And I'm good with that!!

My Akimbo nearly got itself frogged this morning. Before I took such drastic measures though, I went on Ravelry to read some of the project notes and learned that I'm not the only one who hates doing those increases the way the pattern is written. It's horrible, but it's apparently worth it in the end. I have decided to keep going, but if it gets to be too much, it might go into the corner for a while. Oh, and I'm also not the only one who is perplexed on which stitch to pull from for those type of increases. Updates to come....

Time to get myself together to go pick up the first two grandkids from school. I'm anxious to get them and surprise them with their after school snack today...they loooove frozen yogurt!!!
