Push Beets

A couple of days ago, I went and picked up my youngest grandson to have for the afternoon, so he could learn how to start a garden. I had soaked some bush beans overnight as instructed on the packet, and I bought some of the peat pods to use. As I put the soil in each little 'pot', Olli would stick a bean down in it. He asked me several times what we were planting, and I explained to him how we have to water them and put them in the sunshine so they will sprout.

For a four year old, he actually stayed pretty clean, until his nose started itching. Isn't that the way it always goes though? Also, I don't know how one can garden without a Crystal Light mustache. I can hardly wait until our plants germinate so I can show him the fruits of our labor! That might call for a celebration after we get them transplanted. When his mommy got home from work, he told her he helped me plant a garden. My daughter asked him, "what did you plant?" His answer was, "push beets". We will have to work on that one.

Look who else I caught snooping around our little container garden? A couple of years ago, she actually ate our Habanero and Jalapeno plants. The one she is sniffing in the photo is a red chili pepper plant. I can already see the temptation in her eyes.

On April 1st, I placed an order in an Etsy shop from a woman who hand dyes fiber for spinning. My order confirmation said it would ship in two to three weeks. She also lives in California. When I didn't have it by April 28th, I sent her a message via Etsy as well as on Ravelry, and she ignored them. It finally arrived today, five weeks later, and while it is beautiful, there are plenty of other fiber artists out there who do just as beautiful of work. I'm looking forward to spinning this BFL, but I won't be ordering from her again. I wouldn't have minded the wait if she hadn't ignored my messages to let me know when I could expect my order. After all, she got my money right away!

I'm still working on the Gerri Hat for my friend's mother. I haven't been very consistent with it, but I'm not too far off from having it finished. I wanted to work on my quilted table runner and get that done. It only needed the binding, which I got that accomplished, and will now sit this evening and do the hand sewing. These colors make me so happy!

I've got my mug of mocha latte with whip, and I'm ready to settle in with a needle and thread!
