Totes magoats!

For a person who has been knitting for as long as I have, you would think that I have more than enough supplies tote bags. If that's what you're thinking, you would be right! However, every once in a while, I spot a fantastic new bag in a fabric that just sends me over the edge. I have bags that range in price from ten dollars up to over a hundred dollars, and yet, what I find myself using the most are the clear plastic ones from Knit Picks. They were great for when I was working. At a glance, I could make sure I had everything I needed before heading out the door. Pattern, check. Tool kit, check. Enough yarn for my project, check. Spoon for my yogurt snack, yep, that was there too. Now that I'm retired, I am always looking for that perfect knitting bag, just in case one jumps out at me....one that is more appealing and prettier than clear plastic.

I had a high school friend from long ago contact me yesterday, and asked me if I would knit his mother a hat who is going through chemo. Northern California can get pretty warm in the summer months ahead, and while it's my understanding that the infusion centers can be quite chilly, he requested cotton yarn. Whenever I get a request like this, I NEVER charge anything, not even for the yarn. It's my way of paying it forward. The only place I could think of going to for an inexpensive but nice soft cotton yarn, that doesn't look cotton-y, was Hobby Lobby. So, this afternoon, off I went! While cruising the aisles for the perfect yarn in the color my friend Paul requested (black), there it was...hanging right there in front of me...THE perfect bag!!! I was so happy to see that it had a nice big pocket on the outside front for your pattern. No more having my pattern or book become tattered by the time I finish the project. Inside, there are two pockets, one zips and one is deep enough to where nothing should fall out of it. There are also some elastic strips divided for your needles. And I love it!!! The colors make me happy! Such a cute fabric pattern, and straps long enough to go on my shoulder if I want. I'm thinking about getting a pair of sandals to match!!

To think I almost put this back on the shelf!

I don't have any knitting pictures to show you this time. I did quite a few more repeats on my tangerine tunic, but didn't take a picture yet. Oh, and I also bought some new kitchen cotton today to make a couple more dishcloths. I gave the two I showed you last week to my daughter, and now it's my turn.

Till next time, I hope you all have a wonderful and fun weekend!
