How does your garden grow?

Some of my friends last year created some amazing 'patio gardens', and I was so envious of the veggies they were harvesting out of containers. I love vegetables, and never tire of them! I vowed that I was going to do the same thing they did, this year. So, I spent early afternoon at my local garden center choosing just the right plants, some soil, and a couple of new flower pots. For the most part, I got three tomato plants, a red chili pepper (my husband likes spicy!), all planted. I now have to decide where I want to put the two zucchini plants I got, as well as the bush beans that I will have to start from seed since I couldn't find starts for those. I am so excited to be trying this!! Many years ago, my ex father-in-law did some container gardening, and I watched him do extremely well also. He taught me how to do tomato plants, so we will see if I have any success. Here's hoping....

While I was at it, I happened to remember that my front porch could use some spring cleaning along with some fresh flowers. My friend Kathy, always has such pretty urns full of impatiens, and when I went to see her yesterday, I knew that was what I needed too. I will need to get these potted up tomorrow...

I belong to my local knitting guild, and one of the charities we help to supply chemo caps for children to is the Keaton Raphael Memorial Foundation. Our liaison from our guild provides us with the pattern and the yarn the foundation wants us to use. In exchange, we are welcome to keep the pattern. It breaks my heart that these hats are needed in the first place, but since they are, I'm happy to contribute to the warmth of these young people. Infusion centers have to be kept cold, and combined with the hair loss, the hats are very much welcomed. This is the same charity that my grandson's raised funds for and then shaved their heads through the St. Baldrick Foundation, who partners with KRM. This is the hat I knitted Friday night, and finished up at one of my grandson's Little League game on Saturday.

I love the colors in this hat!! The yarn is a Deborah Norville yarn, in the colorway called Northern Lights.

We had such a productive weekend...how about you?
