I did manage to spin a total of 653 yards of the gray blend though, which is more than enough to knit my granddaughter a cropped sweater. I'm going to be spinning more though, so I don't know for sure yet what I want to knit from it.
It was such a great weekend, even if the heat was a bit intolerable. On Saturday, Scooter and I went to a memorial for a neighbor friend's mother. While these are always difficult times, it was very nice, and it's the first time I had ever taken Holy communion in an Episcopal church. It's done quite differently than the faith I was baptized in, Wesleyan Methodist. Didn't matter to me though, it's still all the same God in my eyes. We spent the rest of the afternoon at our neighbor's house visiting, and then that evening, Scooter took me out for a lovely Chinese meal at our favorite Asian restaurant.
On Sunday, my fourth oldest granddaughter (I have five) and I, met my oldest granddaughter and her boyfriend for lunch at a Benihana restaurant. It was the first time he and my younger gdaughter had ever been to one and they thoroughly enjoyed it. If you've been to one, you know the chef usually puts on a little show as he cooks your hibachi meal. It's very entertaining, and very good food! Trevor and I also had sushi for our first time, and I think it's safe to bet the farm that neither one of us will be having it again. We gave it an honest try, and then we dug into our tempura veggies and I had salmon with mine while he had chicken I believe. We had such a wonderful time and I always hate seeing my granddaughter go, but she lives about two hours from me, so I understand when they have to leave.
My younger granddaughter and I also got some school shopping in, and it was so fun watching her get excited about the latest fashions.
This is a skirt similar to one of the ones she picked out. It looks so darling on her. We layered it with a tank top and then a blouse over the top of it. We plan to go shopping again, in a couple of weeks, just before they start school.
I have been knitting so much on my Bad Oyster scarf, that I'm nearly done!! Finally!! Oh, and the second sock to my Pool Party socks is almost finished. I'm very pleased with those!
That's about all I have for now, so until next time, take care!!!
