Merrily coasting

Just three days into Tour de Fleece (informally, as I've not joined a specific team) and I've already learned that I need must watch The Spinner's Toolbox with Judith Mackenzie. I'm still wanting to spin quite thin, which there is nothing wrong with that, unless of course, you're after a heavier weight yarn in the end. I can spin what looks to be a worsted weight when doubled back on itself, but I'll be coasting merrily along, and bam!, I now have a thick and thin. I want consistency dangit!!! A part of me just wants to give in and spin the other pound of merino fiber I have into thin singles and two ply for a sport weight, but if I do that, then the pound I've already spun and plied won't give me enough yardage for a sweater. I think I'm going to keep going and just try my best to improve on what I'm hoping to achieve, plus it will give me enough yardage for either my daughter or granddaughter a sweater.

I finally got a good bit of knitting accomplished today on my cardigan, and I'm getting so excited to be coming up on the finish line for it. I got half of sleeve number two done today, after my grandsons went home. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have enough yarn left over for a matching hat, maybe even two of them! So sorry for the blurriness of this picture, but it was the end of the day, and after such a full day with grandkids, and housework, I'm not at full capacity to even take another one. I promise there will be others though.

And that brings me to why this will be a shorter than normal post. I'm wiped out my friends...a full holiday weekend of fireworks and fun, and trying to bring things back to normal today, has me yearning for a comfy bed and pillow a little earlier than usual.

Maybe I'll curl up with my book for a bit and merrily coast off to slumberland....until next time....
