All about Olli

My youngest grandson officially turns five tomorrow, but we decided to celebrate it this past weekend. Papa Chris and I took him and his older brother (by 10 months) to our local zoo. They had never been before and while they weren't disappointed, it was a huge letdown for me since I know what that zoo used to be like. When I was a kid, it actually had animals!! Peacocks used to roam the grounds in abundance. There used to be elephants, and chimpanzees, along with spider monkeys. Not one Rhinoceros in sight, no hyenas, no exotic animals whatsoever. With two senior discount tickets, and two five year old tickets, it cost us $35. to see four giraffes, a jaguar, two orangutans very briefly, two hornbills, one anteater, one lion, three zebras, and an elk. Oh, and a plethora of flamingos. Oh well, the little guys enjoyed themselves, and that's what it was all about anyway! At some point in their lives, I hope they one day will get to see a live elephant up close. They loved the giraffes, so I can only imagine what they would think if they did see a pachyderm of any type!

They laughed so much at this guy...he came out to get a bunch of broccoli and then grabbed a towel off one of the ropes and put it over his head before he climbed back into his den. They are my favorite to watch!

There are some nice photo ops around the grounds though, and this was the little guy's favorite. I must have made at least a dozen of these shots for them..hahaha

We topped the day off by stopping at one of our favorite ice cream parlors before heading home...

Birthday boy's brother will grab any opportunity to be silly in front of the camera!

Why they brought hats on a hundred degree (Fahrenheit) day is beyond me. I'm wondering now if they weren't real sure of what to expect a zoo is? Lol

See papa? I DID wash my hands!!!

 Bring it on!!!

Happy Birthday to a very special little man...my grandson, Oliver!!!
