Never too many bags

Why on earth does it takes me months to shop for just the right handbag?!?! I have got to be the world's pickiest when it comes to finding the perfect one. I have spent the past two days looking for a new bag, and I think the ONLY place I didn't go to was the Coach outlet. My daughter says, "look online Mom", to which I say, "no, I want to be able to feel and see it". I need to see if it fits just the way I need it to, since I prefer to carry my bags on my shoulder, with my arm snugly over the top of it. To me, my handbags are an investment. I wear and use them for many years, so for me, if it's what I like, it fits right, and I can tell it's going to serve me well for a number of years, then I am willing to pay extra. This past February, I purchased a Sak bag at Macy's and this summer, the inside has already torn. So, note to self, no more fabric insides like Sak bags have. It's a really cute red bag too, and I love that it has a cross body strap, so I can have my hands free...another plus!

After making the rounds in our local mall, (oh how I wish we had Dillard's here!!) and even looking at Target and Kohl's, I remembered a bag I got a couple of years ago at the Lancome counter. One of those freebies when you spend x amount in products. I used it for a while, and then somehow it became home to my fair isle sweater I've been working on for months.....ok, years....anyway, I began thinking I would just give up the hunt and come home, find a new storage place for the sweater, and use that bag again. I've loved it since the day I got it, and it's the perfect fit for me, so why not? Well, when I got home, went to the closet where it is kept, I happened to look up at another shelf and discovered a leather backpack style bag I used to carry when I was flying from Kentucky to California twice a month, and back again. How did I forget that one? I love it, it's versatile in that I can carry it as a purse and sling it over my shoulder, or use it as a backpack so my hands are completely free. And the best part?...it's deep enough for a knitting project!!! Bam! The hunt is over for now....until I make it over to Charming Charlie's. :)

The handspun yarn I talked about in my last post has left me pleasantly surprised. It happens every time. Once it's washed, given a good thwacking, and left to dry, it blooms into a beautiful yarn. I forgot to measure the wpi, but I'm pretty sure this is somewhere around a DK weight. I never worry too much about that though, because I usually always do a gauge swatch, especially with my handspun. A total of 415 yards...not a great picture, but when I knit something from it, I will post a pic....

I've been thinking about what my oldest granddaughter said to me the last time we visited. I told her I was thinking about spinning her some yarn (she's a knitter!!) for her birthday in a couple of months, but then I said it sounds like she is way too busy to be knitting these days...work, school, boyfriend, etc. She said "but grandma, even though I'm not knitting right now, it's always fun just to have yarn and look at it!" I love that girl!!!!! So, I think that will be my next project and I have until the end of next month to get it done. I already have some spun up in her favorite color and weight (she prefers pink and chunky), but I want to add to it. She's more than deserving of it!!!

I'm posting kind of late today (tonight?)...all the running around I did, and then be back in time to get kids from school, take one to his dad, the other one to cheer practice, and then the two "littles" (my pet name for them), for a snack...they love frozen yogurt, and grandma doesn't mind a little either.
Tomorrow is another day running some errands, and back to schools again to pick up grandkids...I love it! I'm so blessed!!
