Cables, curves, and cardis

Things are progressing slowly, but very nicely, on my Cointreau, by Thea Colman of babycocktails. While at knit night last night, I finally got to my first cable. Wow, this thing is going to be pretty! At first sight, the chart looks rather daunting, but it's actually very easy. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and was able to sit and knit on it while I was waiting. I just love Thea Colman's designs, and am thinking about knitting one of hers for a sweater.

The Doubleknit podcasters, Jessica and Erin, are planning a "Cardi Party" kal, that will begin on Sept. 1st and go to November 30th. I haven't really committed myself to it yet, but I'm seriously thinking about it. I better hurry...with three days left, it may mean a trip to Reno to Jimmy Beans for yarn!

I can't remember if I mentioned it or not previously, but my sister has asked for a pair of Fingerless Gloves. I seriously thought I already had yarn for it in my stash, but when I went looking, there wasn't enough of what I needed. So, after the doctor yesterday, I made a quick run over to the LYS since I knew she carries what I was wanting. I will make the Cafe au Lait mitts again. I also needed to pick up a skein of Malabrigo Silky Wool, for a Sivia Harding class I am taking next weekend. I picked it in the Natural colorway, and that way I can choose whatever color of Japanese seed beads I want! It's a beaded knitting class, and I've heard from other people what a wonderful teacher Sivia is...I'm getting excited....it should be lots of fun with my other friends from the guild I belong to!

That's really about all I have for today. I didn't have my grandchildren after school yesterday, as their dad stayed home and was able to get them. I do get them today though...I miss them when I don't have them, they are such a joy to have!!!

Oh, there is one last thing I have to share with you today....I have completely finished my L'Enveloppe, by Sally Melville! I don't think I had it marked finished on Ravelry yet, since I hadn't taken any photos. I had my girlfriend help me with that last night at knit group, but all any of us had with us were our camera phones, so we did the best we could. I can't tell you how much I love this piece!!! It is so fun to have on, and I'm certain it's going to get a lot of use this year!! It has a very interesting construction, there is only one sleeve, the right one. That, along with nothing but garter stitch....pure joy!!

It's almost the weekend, so until next time, have a super day!!!
