No guilt allowed

Since I am managing to get some of my Works in Progress (WIP) turned into FOs (Finished Objects), I am not feeling the least bit guilty about casting on for a couple of new projects. One of them is the Calais I posted about previously that will be for my sister-in-law. I've just gotten past the neck ribbing this morning, and wow, is this piece going to be gorgeous!!! The pattern is a bit tricky to interpret, since it was originally in Danish and was translated into English. I've discovered that with a lot of foreign language patterns that were translated, they are still a bit strange to follow. Thankfully, this one has a chart, and once I was able to wrap my head around the fact that the designer wants you to increase on each side of the lace panel as well as at the shoulders, I was good to go! And with my new ChiaoGoo needles, this thing is flying on US size 13 needles! I'm knitting it in Cascade Pacific (Chunky), which isn't the weight the pattern calls for...it is written for a super bulky weight, but I really don't enjoy knitting with that heavy of a yarn. I went up two needle sizes from what the pattern called for, and was just a smidgen under gauge, but I think it will work since it's neck down...oh, and I also am knitting the next larger size. My daughter is a little smaller than my sister-in-law, so if anything, I can always gift it to her and try another one for B. It's so squishy soft, I think it's going to be lovely and perfect for Idaho's fall weather!

The next project I will be casting on for probably today is another babycocktails pattern called, Cointreau, by Thea Colman. I think this is such a beautiful piece and I love doing cables! I'm going to be knitting it out of Pashmina, by MadelineTosh, in the Fragrant colorway. I'm so happy to be using up some of my yarn stash. This has been in my yarn cupboard for maybe two years? Not terribly long, but it's time I get it knitted up!!

I mentioned my Violet Supernova I spun and finally got a fingering to light sport weight, but I think I forgot to show you a picture. I just love this Blue Face Leicester!! It's so soft and such a joy to spin!!! I ended up with 420 yards in a two ply. Now to find a pattern that will fit it just right...

The photo above is more color accurate.

My goal today is to get some more spinning done, and I will save my knitting for this evening when I join up with the knitsibs for some laughter, dinner, and just downright good company...love those women!!
