A little more than a week ago, I learned there was going to be a mystery knit-along over at Jimmy Beans Wool, based on the Masterpiece Theatre Series of Downton Abbey. I love this show, and I'm already loving the shawl that we will receive a new clue to knit on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings. I made the mistake of not swatching first (because we know I get gauge right out of the gate every time, right?), and even though I tried my best to "stay loose" with my knitting, I think so far, my piece might be too small. I'm going to rip it and swatch with a size bigger needle. The pattern calls for a US 4, so I'm going to try a 5. There are others in the group who had to go up to a size 7, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like the fabric that size would create, since we're using a fingering weight yarn.
I'm trying to get as many WIPs off my needles as possible within the next few months...it's either that or frog them. I'm tired of them tying up my needles if they're just going to sit in a basket. Yesterday, I showed you a pair of socks I got off the needles that have been on them since August. In between working on them, some dishcloths for my knitting guild January challenge, and a cowl out of quivut (Yummmy!!), I managed to eek out a pair of socks for my sister. I finished them yesterday and finally got around to taking a picture of them today. That just leaves the pair I promised my brother in law for Christmas, and then I can devote more time to those works in progress. Stitches West will be here before we know it, and I seriously need to get some of the projects I bought the pattern and yarn for at last year's event knitted up....or at least get them started!!!
Sissy's socks
I can see now from proofing what I just wrote, that I'm going to have to reschedule my schedule if I'm going to accomplish all the things!
