In the name of progress

Sometimes it's the simplest details that adds up to the most elegant events. This past Saturday, Scooter and I got dressed up and attended the wedding of a friend that was held at a very nice hotel that is used often for weddings and receptions. The building itself has an interesting history, and as a child, I remember it being a mansion located in the Victorian era section of houses, as a lot of Sacramento was home to. In the 30's, it was converted to apartments, although it still looked like a mansion, and in the 80's it underwent the first of a couple of renovations and was turned into a hotel. It is a beautiful place to have a wedding or any other function for that matter.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were truly honored to have been invited to our friend's wedding. We didn't know anybody else there, but we quickly made new friends and even found ourselves on the dance floor during the reception. The bride was beautiful and it was obvious how much in love the bride and groom were with each other. This was her second marriage and she brought a little 3 1/2 year old daughter with her, who is just the cutest thing ever!!! She was the flower girl and took her responsibility very serious, making sure to scatter those rose petals in just the right amount and places down the aisle. Later on, she took on the job of photographer and had no problem stealing the show with her little digital camera someone loaned her. At one point, she wanted the official photographer to loan her his camera. It was hilarious watching this little curly haired angel!

No event is going to escape me getting a picture of my sweet husband looking so handsome for the occasion! I know it's a small pic, but it's the best I could do in that split second of remembering where I had put my camera before he returned to our table during cocktail hour.

We had such a lovely time and wish the new Mr.& Mrs. a long loving marriage!!

Yesterday was such an exceptionally beautiful day, so we decided to take the dogs for some exercise along the trails we have in our city (we live in a rural part of the "city"). It also gave me a chance to start training a bit for my first 5k I'm signing up for. I'm excited but I do have some work to do. It's a charity event, which I will divulge more information at a later date. A couple of my cousins and my daughter want to form a team and I think that will be really fun! Scooter and I, and the dogs had a wonderful time, and it's the first time we have ever seen Maggie, our dachshund, cross a creek on her own. She typically won't go near water, but being the hound that she is, we think she must have been on the scent of some critter.

By evening yesterday, I was ready to settle down and get some knitting time in. I had received the second clue for Kirsten Kapur's sock kal and was anxious to get started on it! The fourth clue for my Downton Abbey shawl kal had arrived as well, so I made dinner, and Scooter cleaned up the kitchen for me so I could sit down and get started! Is it any wonder why I love this man so much?!!? I have also been getting in my 15 minutes of spinning for the past few days, and I'm loving it so much! Almost to the bottom of that bag of alpaca roving that was supposed to only be 5 ounces...ha!

It's difficult to tell in this picture of my shawl above, but the pattern is now turning into a sort of cross stitch type design it seems. I'm loving how it looks so far!! I have about 7 more rows of this last clue and can't hardly wait to see what the next clue brings!

I've almost filled up a second bobbin...I'm planning on doing a 2 ply and hoping for a fingering or maybe sport weight yarn. We will see...

I'm finishing the yoke up on my Ditto cardigan, but haven't taken any new pics of it yet. I'm planning on spending the rest of my day working on more progress on these items, and still have to get my walk in for the day! So, on that note, I hope you have had as wonderful a weekend as we had, and that your week is off to a great start!!!
