Hear ye, hear ye

What about that game yesterday? If you are in the U.S., you definitely know which one I'm talking about! Scooter and I had no intentions of watching it, as we're what you might call "casual observers" of the sport, especially when it's not the teams we like who are playing. If I had to choose which team to cheer on in the super bowl though, I'd have to go with the New England Patriots (ducking and covering here), while my husband was rooting for the Seattle Seahawks...which I didn't realize until the end of the third quarter! Lol See what I mean? We didn't even make it a topic in our house. While I was cooking dinner, I thought I would turn the tv on, just out of curiosity to see what the score was. It was a few minutes before half time (which in my opinion wasn't all that great), and Scooter and I decided to settle in for a bit and watch some of the game. By the time half time was over, our dinner was ready, and we went right back to the game after we ate. We were so glad we did! What an exciting end to the game...we thoroughly enjoyed all that we watched!!! Next year, we're both hoping our favored team, the San Francisco 49r's make it to the Super Bowl...we will be glued to the television!

Since I last posted, which was on Friday, I got quite a bit of knitting done. I'm all caught up on the clues for my mystery socks, and wow, what a beautiful pattern that is developing. It's hard to see in my pictures, but when they're finished, I'll block them so you can see the lace. Oh darn, just realized I'm not caught up on these!!! Arrgghhh...I need to print out clue 3 and get started!

My Ditto cardigan by Berroco has been bound off, so now all I need to do are the buttonbands and sew up the sleeve seams. Looks like I should have it ready for Stitches West...yippeeee!!! Unless of course, I can't decide how I want to do those bands. The directions are written for it to be worked vertically, but I'm not sure I like the look of that. I noticed others knitted it horizontally so the ribbing matches that of the hem, which I'm really leaning towards doing it that way. Also, you are supposed to knit them separate and then sew them on, but I'm thinking about just picking up stitches on the edge of the fronts. Just seems so much more logical and saves time. Then I get to do the fun part...go pick out buttons! Oh wait, I forgot I inherited my mom's button box...that excites me!!!

I know for a fact where I'm at in my mystery shawl knit-a-long, because I worked on it last night while watching Downton Abbey. I think there's hope yet as far as me liking the design. I wasn't too sure in the beginning, but now there's lace happening, and that makes me happy! I have one more repeat left to do of the clue we received on Saturday, so I think I'll set that aside while I get caught up on those socks.

Looks like Punxsutawny Phil, the groundhog, saw his shadow this morning, which as legend has it, means six more weeks of winter. I know the people on the east coast dread it, but we here in the west so desperately need a winter that includes a decent snow pack and rain in the valley. Here's to hoping Phil is right....
