In full swing mode

All of the knitting has been completed on my Vanessa Cowl, the ends have all been woven in, and all that's left to do is graft the ends together, block it, and photograph it. There are a total of four charts for this design, which makes a two loop cowl. When you knit fair isle (which is one of my favorite techniques), it creates a double fabric, which makes it super warm. Since I don't live in an area where I would need a furnace around my neck, I chose to stop at chart three. I think I'm going to be very happy with the fit. I absolutely love the colors and for the most part, I used Cascade 220 Sport, with the exception of a couple of them, which are Polka Dot Pony sport weight yarns I bought at Stitches West this year. This was one of the goals I had written in my planner/journal for this week, so it looks like I'm going to be able to put a check mark next to it!

Another pair of socks for me is on my needles. I think I might have mentioned that in my last post, but I'm not sure I was far enough along to show you a picture. I took these to church with me yesterday, and actually got quite a bit knitted on the first sock. I'm almost to the point where I will put in my afterthought heel line, which means the leg of it is almost finished. Opal Hundertwasser has just about got to be my favorite sock yarn! It is so much fun to watch the stripes appear, it launders well, and my socks last forever. Don't look for these to be done in any record amount of time though...like always, it's my on-the-go knitting.

Yes, that is the book I'm currently reading underneath my sock, but haven't picked up in a while. It's titled "The Museum of Extraordinary Things", and I'm not sure why I haven't read it in several weeks, because it is quite a good story. I've decided I will start reading it again tomorrow, since there is a book I saw on Kindle last night that I purchased called, "Maude", by Donna Mabry. I don't use my Kindle a whole lot as I prefer the old fashioned paper book. I love everything about them, the smell, turning the pages, etc. For a $1.59 though for a book, what more can I say?

Yesterday, I went to grab a sweater to wear to church, and discovered the ones I have are all too big now. I have one on my needles that is so close to being done, I really should pick it up and be done with it. I will finish that one, but I'm not going to start anymore new ones just yet, bad as I want to. I've decided with summer coming on in a couple of months, and I'm still dropping the pounds, rather than start a new cardigan, what I'm going to do is cast on for the lightweight poncho I purchased the yarn and pattern for at Stitches. It will be perfect for just those times when you need a little more than a shawl or a scarf. As soon as I get it cast on and make some progress, I'll share it with all of you. For now, I'm working on my capelet, and it is coming along beautifully!!! I'm so pleased with it, and the yarn is absolutely lovely to knit with. I'm now working on the body of it, and while the pattern can look a little overwhelming at first, I've found using my highlighter tape and a lot of stitch markers keeps everything in check.

Two more quilt blocks were sewn together yesterday also, and that is one of the projects I would love to hurry up and get finished with. Not that we will need it anytime soon, but it's coming together so nicely and is going to look so pretty in our living room!

All in all, I would say it was a pretty successful and productive weekend! I even managed to make it to my grandson's ball game on Saturday, and that's probably one of my favorite things to do!!

  1. Lovely sock you have growing there on your needle! The best part for me knitting fair isle is choosing which colour to add next and what combination to do on each row. I love to knit it randomly and see how it turns out, such pleasure!
