Gettin' it together

Today is our last day of winter, and here in northern California, we are supposed to hit close to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I love spring and summer, but we are in our fourth year of a drought. The state water department tells us we have enough water for just one more year. That is scary information!! My husband and I have made the decision to discontinue watering our grass, and I'm hoping we can figure out some sort of 'dryscape' that won't make us feel like we live in the desert. No offense to those of you who do, but it's just not my cup of tea. I know I want quite a bit of brickwork, so now to start sketching out my design(s) I'm thinking of.

My planner I've been talking about arrived yesterday, just before I was leaving to go spend the evening with my knitting group. I haven't had much time to play with it, but I was anxious to put a little baseball sticker on the date of my grandson's next game. Too cute! I'm hoping to spend a little time today to start personalizing it to make it look more like me. I can already tell I'm going to love having this. My husband is forever calling me up and asking me what we have planned on such and such dates. I'm so sick of having little post-its scattered all over the house, and both of us are the worst about jotting down things on our 'household calendar'. I rarely use my phone, tablet, iPod, or any other electronic devices for that purpose. I'm just old school like that, and still prefer paper and pen/pencil. Plus, it's going to be fun using all the paper type doodads I bought to keep me up to speed.

I have made some good progress on my lace capelet and am loving it!! I have just two more rows of the yoke left, and then will start on the body of it. With the exception of some plain vanilla socks I did a few rows on, this capelet was the only other knitting I did yesterday. I haven't shown you my next pair of socks yet, mostly because I keep forgetting to bring them in from my car. Maybe once I reach the body of my capelet, I'll finish up the knitting on my Remembering Vanessa cowl. I'm in need of a finished object for sure!!

Since it's going to be such a gorgeous day, I'm going to make this a little shorter than usual post, so I can go enjoy it. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the weather forecast for rain this coming weekend holds up! We need it badly!!!
