I wasn't real sure how I wanted to start this post off today, so I chose to do it with a picture that says it all.My February Lady got frogged this morning...not nice, I know. It always takes me at least two tries before I realize I can't knit and sleep at the same time! Yesterday was one of those days where we were on the go the entire day with meetings, dentist and doctor appointments. I was the one with the dentist appt....well, actually, with the hygienist. I love our RH....she is such a doll, with the longest eyelashes I think I have ever seen on a person! Scooter loves to tease her and she is so good natured about it. Anyway, she calls me her "superstar flosser", and I am a bit fanatical about it, but it has paid off. A clean bill of dental health, and I was off and running again. We arranged for me to swing by Scooter's office and pick him up to go to the doctor's office. On my way, I was coming up on a very busy intersection, behind and one lane over from a compact silver car. We were a few feet from the intersection with a green light and both of us were doing exactly the speed limit, when all of a sudden a woman runs a red light and t-bones the silver car in front of me. It happened so fast, like she came out of nowhere, but as I keep rewinding the video in my head, I see her fly out from the opposite direction and swing right into the far left lane. The poor kid in the silver car didn't stand a chance of avoiding her, although he tried slamming on his brakes, but it was too late. I hit my brakes, turned on my emergency flashers, and moved to the shoulder of the road so I could see if anyone was hurt. I hate the sound of a crash, and I could see metal and plastic parts flying everywhere. Cars were still coming through the intersection though, so I stayed in my car and called 911. It turned out things weren't as bad as I first thought and the drivers moved their cars to the side of the road in front of me. The young man and the lady that ran the light were now standing next to his car and preparing to exchange information, when I heard the woman tell the kid she was the one that had the green light. WHAT?!!? I'm thinking "are you crazy?" So bad I wanted to say, "lady, I just got stopped last weekend for running a yellow light, so the last thing I'm going to do is run another one...I'm uber conscientious about that now, so YOU are dead wrong!!!!" I decided to stay because I could tell she was trying to intimidate the young man and that just made my blood boil. The police arrived and thanked me for staying as a witness and if I didn't mind, would I please write down my name and telephone number(s). I wrote down the info and she (the officer) passed it along to the young man because I told her what I had heard and that it was not the truth. Someone did a fine job of raising this kid...he came over to me and thanked me for staying there as a witness and giving my info. I told him what I heard the woman say and he said "I was pretty sure I had a green light because I am very careful about that...I'm usually a good driver, but I thought maybe this one time I had made a mistake"...I assured him no, we had the green light, that woman was wrong! He then shook my hand and thanked me again. I continued on my way to go get Scooter so we could get to his doctor appointment. Things went well at his doctor appt.,and he finally got some relief for his back issues..yay!!! However, my sweater didn't fare so well. I should've known better than to try to work on it after a full day like we had.
Oh yeah, back to where I was going with this...The February Lady Sweater.......she is well on her way again as I type this. Another reason I frogged her is because I was not sure about my choice of yarn, and I'm still not convinced, but I'm going to give it one last shot. It's 75% cotton and I'm just hoping it holds its shape when being worn. Another part of me wants to go get something else for it today at the LYS, and maybe use this cotton for a baby blanket where shaping isn't quite as important. I might have just talked myself into it after all. LOL The only thing saving this yarn is that it is 25% acrylic, so maybe shaping won't be such a problem. Hmmmm...I'll have to think about this some more.
I started some socks for Scooter yesterday as well. I originally started them at knitting on Wednesday, but I wasn't happy with the sizing, so I thought I would wait and come home and plug some numbers into my sock wizard program. When I got my new laptop, I gave my old one to Scooter and he supposedly took my programs off that pc and put them on my new one. You've probably guessed it by now. For some reason, the sock wizard didn't make it and he has already uninstalled it on the old pc. He has offered to buy it for me again, but I called Courtney instead who has the program, and asked her to run some numbers for me. I think I'm okay now and I'm really loving the yarn I chose for his socks. It's a sportweight by Jawoll and working up so nicely. Scooter has learned what knitting socks looks like on DPNs, so right away, he asked if they were for him. I changed the subject before he even realized I hadn't answered him. LOL I'm trying to be so inconspicuous with them ...LOL I'm hoping I can find time to knit him a pair from fingering weight as well. He loves it when I knit him things, and I love that he loves them!!!
I also started some more things for charity, but I haven't had a chance to take pictures yet. As soon as I do, I will post them. If I'm to get anything done today though, I should wrap this up and tell you I hope you have a terrific weekend!!!
The socks look good.. they are working up nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney...I love working with this yarn! It should make some nice socks for my honey. Thanks for your help with the numbers!!!
