They have a back room they use for storing some of it, and then the root cellar was also filled with everything you could imagine...beans, tomatoes, peppers, and dad even makes his own grape juice! They sent us home with a big box of an assortment, and we tore into a quart of the grape juice already. We stayed quite late and knew we had another hour to drive before getting into Pocatello, where we would be staying. Scooter wanted to stay at the hotel where he worked when he was in high school, and there was a fabulous restaurant across the street where he wanted to take me for dinner. He also wanted to do a quick visit with his brother before he went for some more medical procedures the next day in Salt Lake City. While they were there, we would go back to visit dad, and if he felt like it, we would all get together for dinner that night, which is exactly the way it happened. We had such a wonderful time!!!!! I had never been to Idaho, and what awesome country...wide open space with tons of history! Oh, and Scooter also showed me the Fort Hall Indian reservation where he once lived. Very interesting!!!
We had such a fun time and have planned another trip in the spring after the snow has melted. I got some very good decorating tips from different places we went, and I'm anxious to get started on our home. Oh, and last but by far from the least, I am so lucky to have the greatest guy in my life. He scouted out the LYS, took me to it, then tells me to get whatever I want!!! I will have to share that with you in another post.
We spent the day yesterday unpacking, doing laundry, getting a few groceries, and in between, I managed to finish my Mystery Socks. I love love love them...a beautiful pattern with some awesome sock yarn (Cherry Tree Hill) makes for some of the best socks I now have in my sock drawer!! While on the road (I LOVE road trips!), I also re-started my February Lady Sweater and so far, I'm loving it! I haven't gotten very far, so pictures will follow soon.
I'm so happy we got to go on this trip...it was heartwarming to say the least, to see the happiness in Scooter's eyes while visiting with his family. It's good to be home now too, sleeping in our own bed, and eating home cooked meals from our own kitchen, but we are already looking forward to our next adventure!
I hope y'all have a great week!
wow.. this is awesome! The pictures are great. What a great trip. I am so glad you two had thi little get away. How very intimate!!! I love those socks. I wish I had your petite lady like foot because I'd probably steal them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Week.. can't wait to hear the good stuff in person on Wednesday.

The pictures are amazing! I love the one of the falls,very pretty! I LOVE the socks!!! Very pretty... I can't wait until after christmas knitting is done and I can make myself a pair.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to hear about your trip. It is a nice drive to take from SL through Idaho. I grew up in Kimberly/Twin Falls. I was surprised to learn about the closing of the Shoshone Falls. I have lots of memories of picnicing there and the dreaded driving test on the road going up and down to the falls. And most importantly, the socks are wonderful. I will have to try the pattern.
ReplyDeleteHi Gayle, we didn't make it to Shoshone Falls, so not sure about it being closed. We don't think it is. We went to Twin Falls which at one time had two falls and a beautiful little park! There is now only one fall, but still was amazing to see!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could've gotten a better picture of my socks, but there is a group I belong to where you can see some that are very pretty as well. The group on Ravelry is called Through the Loops if you'd like to have a look. They are a fun knit and I love them!!
Thank you, Courtney! I love my new socks! Seeing that part of the country was awesome and I truly enjoyed it very much!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Toni! Just when I think it can't get any better for me and my honey...we truly have heaven right here on earth! :=)
ReplyDeleteSee you Wednesday. :=)
