Since I'm still nursing a nasty cold, I just didn't feel like doing much this past weekend. This crud has all but zapped every ounce of energy from me, so Scooter insisted I not move from the sofa, as if I could anyway. The guy catered to every whim I had and then even tried to anticipate the next one. He came in from work on Friday evening, reheated us some of the roast and veggies I had fixed in the crockpot the day before. He loves dessert after dinner in the evenings, but I was doing good just to get dinner fixed for us. I told him maybe I needed some chocolate to feed my fever...it sounded good anyway! :=) So, after dinner, the only time he said I could get up was to use the restroom. I was NOT to go into the kitchen for anything, he was in charge of cleaning up that night! The next thing I knew, he was pulling a chocolate cake out of the oven for us. This man can cook...he made it entirely from scratch...a chocolate cake from SCRATCH I tell ya!!! This man had not had a day off in 20 days, so I hardly expected him to be waiting on me, let alone bake me a cake from scratch. This was one time I wasn't going to fuss over having a calorie conscious dessert, and, well, it's not like he used a ton of sugar, or real sticks of butter, and I'm told that chocolate does have some healthy properties to it. I'm still in awe today that he did this for me. Now, that's what I call L-O-V-E!!
Staying down for the weekend afforded me a lot of restful knitting time. I mentioned before that I wanted to clean up some WIPs before Ravelympics begins, so I finally completed a pair of socks. Those are them in the picture above. I had no idea so much time had lapsed from when I first started them! I am so happy to have them off my needles. I love the pattern, Waving Lace, and the yarn, Red Rocks Fiber Works Aspen Sock, was very nice to knit with! I'm thrilled to have another pair of socks in my wardrobe, and my goal for 2010 is to complete at least 6 more pairs just for me. I love love love my handknit socks!!!
I woke up feeling so much better today, but I've decided to make sure it's the real thing this time and get lots more rest before I pick up where I left off at. I don't need anymore relapses! I've stayed away from my family so as to not infect them with the nasty bug, but I'm missing them big time!! If anyone else is fighting this crud, you have my sympathy and I wish you a speedy recovery!! And if you have someone in your life that bakes you a chocolate cake from scratch, bonus!!!!
I hope your week is off to a great start. Stay well, stay safe, and stay happy!
