That's all my mom wanted for her birthday yesterday. She says she's past that stage of needing/wanting what she calls "dust collectors", so she would rather have me spend some time with her and maybe see a movie or something along those lines. I normally knit her socks, but she says she is well stocked up on those now too. Being on a fixed income, I know a pedicure is rarely something she treats herself to, if ever. I remembered this on Sunday, so I told her not to make any plans for Monday (her birthday) because I was going to spend the day with her. She loves to read, so we started the day out at the bookstore where I told her to choose any books she wanted. She could only decide on one that she said she had never read and now wanted to ~ Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I urged her to choose some more, but she said something else she would like to have would be a movie. I wasn't about to pay triple for one at the bookstore, so I told her I would pick the one up she wants today. I was able to talk her into getting Shanghai Sisters by Lisa See as well, which came highly recommended to me by some of my knitting pals. One of the ones I had been wanting to get is called Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. It's the Blossom Street series books that I have fallen in love with, so I picked that one up too.
After the bookstore, it was time to grab some lunch and have a nice leisurely chat and talk about the books I had just purchased for us. With our tummies full, it was time to get to our appointments for pedicures that I had made earlier that morning. All in all, we had a nice, relaxing day, and mom told me how much she loved it all! She said "TIME" is the best gift of all...and it's such a simple thing!!!
On Sunday, I started my charity projects for bijouxmaster's contest. I finished it last night and hope it brings a smile to a little one's face. It's the Rainbow marley hat in the pic above by Susan B. Anderson, from her book called itty-bitty Hats. I will make a couple more to send to Tasha, as these are all very adorable, quick, and easy hats to make.
I hope you are all having a great week so far....and remember, stay safe, healthy, and happy!!!
Twenty Wishes is a great book...love all of Macomber books!
