The one that got away

What a fantastic week it was! I made two trips up through the canyon, one by myself, and one with Scooter. I love doing that, but then, I have always loved driving, so road trips alone don't bother me in the least...short or long distances, it doesn't matter. One of the things that is so much fun for us is to scour different antique and thrift stores. On my first trip, I came home with a couple of treasures, both of which I discovered in some second-hand shops. Scooter and I aren't big drinkers, but I found these awesomely fun swizzle sticks and thought, how fun would that be to have those around for our summertime iced tea, or if we did choose to have an adult beverage on occasion!?!? These just didn't seem like something ordinary that you would see that often, so I scooped them up.

The other piece of awesome goodness was this cottage style table I found. I have only ever seen this style in the decor type magazines. Instantly, I knew it had to come home and live with me! It will go in our living room which will eventually all come together, in the style we want.
On my second trip to the mountains, Scooter came along and we packed a picnic lunch to have along the way. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time!
On my first trip alone, I had mentioned to the owner of my favorite shop, that I had found the week before, a vintage lawn/patio chair and how I would love to find at least one more. She told me she had four of them, but hadn't had a chance to clean them up and get them to the store yet. She told me the next time I came back up that way to give her a call, and she would make sure she had them. So, Scooter decided when we got up Saturday morning that he wanted to go get another chair from her. I sure didn't need any convincing to go back to the mountains... and to her shop! This one is going to require some polishing though. Scooter has already begun stripping the old paint off and then we will paint it to either match the one we bought last weekend, or at least compliment it. I showed you the first one in my last post. I don't have a picture of this one to show you just yet, but I will soon.

Even with it being Easter yesterday, we still kept it fairly low key and restful for everybody. At some point, I still managed to get a couple more hats completed for the charity project I'm participating in. I had already completed my third Marley hat, and then, one of my little grandsons discovered the first one I made. He looked so adorable in it and I wish I could show y'all pictures, but those of you who know me, know the reason I can't. For those that don't know, and either want to or need to know, shoot me a message on Ravelry (knitnurd). It was fun having the little guy try on the hat, but he had no intentions of taking it off afterwards. I just couldn't resist letting him keep it, so my first Rainbow Marley got away.... and went home with its new owner. The little blue hat is one I just knitted off the top of my head out of some leftover Encore. I have plans to make some more of these hats this coming week...they are just too fun!

I hope y'all have a great week!!
