Hey, it's a start...right?

Top of the line grinder? Check. Not so ergonomic, but most preferred oil cutter? Check. Very effective and rarely used soldering iron with reostat? Check. Soldering lead? Check. Most importantly, face shield? Check. Ok, so I know it doesn't look the picture of organization, but I'm making the effort, which is more than I was doing this time last year. I won't start actually logging my hours towards the 10kH project for two more days, so I've got a little more time to get my work area set up and my first glass project chosen. I haven't done any real stained glass projects for about 7 years, and even at that, it was pretty limited. I will be the first to admit that I need a whole lot of practice and a lot more studying as I've never had any real formal classes or training, just a whole lot of desire. This is one of my first pieces that currently hangs in our sunroom and a plant has found its way twining in and out of it. This piece only measures approx. 9 inches by 14 inches and the project I'm thinking about choosing this time is going to be quite a bit larger. Scooter and I want something to hang in our kitchen window, rather than a window covering of some sort. Between now and Thursday, I'm going to be reading some books I have about the craft in an effort to gain more knowledge before I begin my actual piece. I'm getting more excited in thinking that I could actually become a world class artist! Or not. I'm okay with that and I'm reminded of the saying "reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars!" Just knowing that I've made the effort and had the discipline to strive for more learning in the craft, is good enough for me....

I've made wonderful progress on the little sweater I started last week for my granddaughter, or rather picked this UFO up and began frogging it so I could start over. It will be fantastic getting this completely off my needles. It's the one I told you about that was intended for her older sister when she was the same age, but is now nearly 13! I'm pretty pleased with how it's turned out, and as of this morning, all there is left to do is the right armband and seam up the sides. I should be able to finish it today and am very excited to see how it fits our little princess!

I will then pick my Sausalito sweater back up and work on it for a bit, before I cast on for a shawl I've already purchased the yarn for. I'm just waiting for my new yarn swift to arrive so I can wind my yarn. Should be any day now!

That's about all I have for today, so I hope y'all are healthy, happy, and are doing what brings you the most enjoyment in your lives!
