One of my favorite blogs is written by a friend of my nephew's, and it always makes me smile when I see that she has a new post up. Molly is an interior designer and photographer (you can buy some of her prints!), and my sister told me about her blog because she just knew I would like her style. Like? That's an understatement. I love it!!! I love that she repurposes a lot of things too, and has fun doing it! A couple of days ago, I was inspired by her latest DIY craft for a fall decoration. It's so cute, and made from canning jar bands. I ran across this idea on Pinterest last month, but the ones I saw were painted orange and I think there were some that were alternating bands of orange and black. I like Molly's idea better of alternating the gold and silver. They look "industrial", but in an elegant sort of way when paired with some candles, and maybe old books. This is my first one, which I used the wide mouth bands for. I plan to make some smaller ones to maybe use in a grouping, and for a couple of gifts.

If you are interested in making your own, and want to know how I did mine, leave me a message and I'd be glad to tell you. If you are interested in any of Molly's ideas and/or prints, leave me a message with your email address and I will send you her blog address.
I hope you make yourself some cute little pumpkins and have as much fun as I did!!!
Thank you so much for sharing my pumpkin idea and writing such sweet things about my blog!! That is so kind of you! Yours turned out perfectly!! Who is your nephew?? I see you are from CA! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Molly, my nephew is Chad (Janae's my younger sister), and yes, I'm in Roseville, CA. :)
ReplyDeleteYour design ideas have truly been an inspiration for my home makeover, when I decided I was bored with what I had. You are so creative and talented and I love your style!! My sister was right!!!
Thank you for sharing your pumpkin idea! Out of all the ones I saw on Pinterest, yours was displayed much more beautifully. I had to run out immediately and buy not only the materials to craft them, but the little accent votives, the owl, and the old book. I was taking a chance that you wouldn't mind me somewhat copying how you had yours displayed. I almost bought an old typewriter at the antique mall yesterday! hahaha
Anyway, I love reading your blog and following along with you and your husband's travels. Your writing makes me feel like I've been there!
Our weather here today is 103 and very poor air quality (lots of major fires!). I hope it's cooler there for you and you are getting to enjoy the start of your "Fallidays!" I can hardly wait!!!
Oh my goodness! That is my favorite family in the whole world and Chad is my bestir!! I love him! What an amazing family you have! Your sweet compliments completely made my whole day! You are so sweet and I am beyond thrilled to inspire you! I am so glad that people are actually using my ideas! That is so exciting for me! Your display turned out beautifully! Thank you thank you!!! It is rainy and freezing here. I don't mind that kind of weather but it was dark for so long this last year! In fact, it was the darkest winter Germany had had in over 60 years! We had less than 100 hours of sun in about months!! At this point 103 sounds kinda nice! I am so thrilled you stopped by my blog and glad I get to follow you now too! I hope you are enjoying this lovely day God has given us! xo
DeleteIsn't Chad the sweetest guy? And Brian is quite special too...I don't get to see them often, but I love them both!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband can't wait to see what the depletion of the checking account was for. Hahahaha I keep telling him he is going to love what I've done to the house. He is away on a special project right now. He's a consultant for a company based in Austria, that manufactures maintenance equipment for the railroads.
When I'm finished with everything, I will take pictures and put them here on my blog so you can see how you've inspired me. It might be a while though. With the holidays approaching, I have so so much knitting to get done, and need to spin my yarn first!
God bless you and yours!!!
-Debbie
p.s. My mom adored you...now I see why!!
