Fresh beginnings

This morning just seemed like the perfect time to start plying the superwash merino combed top I had spun this past week. While hubby took the cars to the carwash this morning to get cleaned up, I sat in my craft room with my coffee and got started. It's so funny how when I first began spinning it, I didn't think I was going to like it as yarn at all. Now that it's being plied, I'm loving it! It seems to be working up into a worsted, maybe chunky weight, but I won't know until it's had a bath, a good thwacking, and then measure for WPIs. I'm very pleased with it, whatever it's going to be. It's the first time I've spun anything beyond a sport/dk weight. And isn't that color so yummy?

I did get a little more knitting done yesterday and this morning, but not enough to be blogworthy. Maybe tomorrow...

Scooter (my hubby) and I went and did a little shopping yesterday. I have a certain light in my mind that I want him to string up in our backyard for the summer months. I've seen them before, but I can't remember where. If all else fails, we will go with the little white Christmas lights. I just love the look for summer evenings. I did find a couple of new pillows for my bench on our front porch, but haven't taken the time to clean that up yet. This beautiful spring time weather makes me want to get outside to weed my flowerbeds and give them a fresh new cover of bark to help hold the moisture in for my plants. I have a friend that has one of the most beautiful cactus gardens I've ever seen, and I'm considering creating one for our yard too. I like the idea of low maintenance!

Let the weekend begin!
