Little Bo Peep

Spring seems to be flourishing here on the left coast, and while it affects a lot of people's allergies, it is so beautiful nearly everywhere you look here in the north part of the state. My irises have bloomed and are doing so well, but I'm sure at the end of the season, I'm going to need to split them as they are getting very thick for the spaces I have them in. My daughter's new home around the corner from us has a huge backyard, so maybe we can put some bulbs there. Fun!

Just as my irises have taken off, so has my spinning. I'm on a real jag with it, and need to start picking out patterns to knit with my handspun. I am enjoying it so much! I can't tell you how happy I am to have fallen down that rabbit hole. I feel like my spindles are being neglected though, so I may even consider selling some of those. It's a shame to just have them sitting and collecting dust, but I will keep a few of them. You just never know. Yesterday, I washed, thwacked, and skeined up the superwash merino I had been spinning in the  baby pink I showed you a couple of days ago. I absolutely love how all 211 yards of it turned out, and it's the first time I've been able to get a worsted weight yarn. I tend to spin on the thin side, and while I probably could've plied to get a worsted weight, I wanted to see if I could manage a 2-ply. I'm thinking it needs to be knit into a hat, and then I might have to order some more of it to spin up for some matching mitts. I'm really into having all of my accessories match right now. You know, like your bras and panties. When I turned 40, that's what I told my husband at the time..."from now on, all of my bras and panties are going to match!" He agreed, and that's the way it's been for me ever since. Haha

Back in March, I showed you a scarf/wrap that I knitted from Fiesta Yarns. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not real good about blocking things right off the needles. Today, I finally decided this was to be the day to block this Shoulder Scarf. If you look closely, you might be able to see some of the gold glittery bits in the yarn. I love how it sparkles!

Before I leave for now, I did want to say that my knitting is going to be picking up steam again. This linen poncho is a project I'd like to have completed before we leave for vacation in a couple of months. It won't be as warm as my alpaca one I took with me last year for obvious reasons, but I wanted something new to take and I can always wear a warmer undergarment. So, I managed to put a couple more rows on it last night while Scooter and I had a conversation about whether or not I need an alpaca, or a sheep. Leaning more towards a sheep.
